If you are really curious to know how long alcohol stay does in your system, read this article and you will find it useful.  The alcohol that you consume gets into the blood so fast after the consumption.  10% of the consumed alcohol can be expelled out through urine, sweat and breath.  The remaining 90% alcohol is broken into by products by the body metabolism.  As different individual holds different metabolic rate, the drug gets metabolized based on various factors such as weight, height, sex and age of an individual.

Blood Alcohol Concentration

BAC {Blood Alcohol Concentration} is helpful in finding how long does the body take to drain out alcohol.  Normal metabolism of the human being is .015 per hour.  It means an average person can drain out alcohol completely within 10 hours.  If metabolism rate is 0.02 BAC, a person can drain out the drug within 1.33 hours.

Guidelines to Suppress BAC Rate

In order to understand the fact how long does alcohol stay in your system, one thing that is very clear is that the BAC rate is more as soon as you consume the drink.  Here are the few tips to suppress the increased rate of BAC.

1. Eat protein rich food along with alcohol, which tends to slow down the absorption of drink.
2. Avoid gulping the entire drink.  Enjoy the taste and sip slowly.
3. Drinks like liquor, wine or beer contain some amount of alcohol.
4. Avoid drinking contests it may increase the BAC rate.
5. Always drink moderately and occasionally.  Take juices, ice water and beverages in between.
6. As active persons tend to drink less, be active.
7. Take the advice of the physician in case of drug test ahead.

If you follow the tips carefully then the BAC rate shows 0.05 or 0.06.  Human body itself secretes alcohol.  It is known as endogenous ethanol.  It is difficult to find the difference between alcohol and endogenous ethanol.  The alcohol content in the blood can be identified with the help of blood tests.  Sweat, urine and breath also can be taken as samples for drug test.

Harmful Effects of Alcohol

Alcohol consumed reaches stomach within 5 minutes.  20% of alcohol stays here and is capable of depleting protective mucus in stomach.  80% of the remaining drink reaches small intestine and disrupts the rate of metabolism. This causes under nourishment in alcohol addicts.  Moderate alcohol drinking provides healthy arteries and expels HDL cholesterol from the body.  Excessive drinking increases the blood pressure and damages the blood vessels.

can i drink alcohol when taking celebrex?

    [Reply]

    DcrDetox Reply:

When taking celebrex for arthritis, the gastrointestinal problems are less when compared to any other medication. But if you drink alcohol when you are in the habit of taking celebrex, it may lead to gastro intestinal bleeding. Alcohol has the ability to create a liver damage. Celebrex gets metabolized in the liver in your body. So if you drink too much alcohol then this may lead to problems in metabolism of celebrex. Be careful. If it is very minimal, it should not be a problem

ranitidine symptoms when taken with alcohol?

    [Reply]

    DcrDetox Reply:

When you take ranitidine, commonly known as zantac, you aim at suppressing hyperacidity. Zantac is an acid inhibiting agent and hence works towards bringing the acidic level within your body. If you take too much alcohol while you take zantac, since alcohol has the ability to increase the aidic level in your body, the effects of alcohol intake and zantac intake nullify each other. You may also feel discomfort due to this nullification process.

Late bars serve alcohol only till maximum of 2 am in the morning. This is very strict rule in USA. The timing exactly depends on your state and the blue laws defined there

can you drink alcohol when taking sertraline

    [Reply]

    DcrDetox Reply:

Sertraline is an anti depressant. Alcohol as such is a depressant. So, when you take sertraline, you are aiming at reducing the depression problems that you might currently have. But if you take alcohol, then that nullifies the whole purpose of taking sertraline

hello. i am having the same problem. my son was accused by testing positive with a breathyiiiizer. he does not drink at all. he was send back to prison for that and i am trying to help him proof his innocence. he had blood test done at hospital and his results were negative, but they are now saying that by the time he got to hospital the alcohol was out of his system, let me know if you have learn anything on your problem. thanks janie

    Brian Reply:

I’ve heard of false negatives from breathalyzers due certain sugar alcohols in certain foods, like chewing gum. Also from i think from diabetics? i’ve heard? if he has any pre-existing or certain medications, i would look into that. Also as I understand, you can test alcohol in blood up to 24 hours after consuming, but only up to 10-14 for breath. so there’s something off about your son’s case. I wish you all the best.

I would say 8-9 hours depending on what time was your last drink, and how much beer you had.

Different people react differently to blood alcohol level. Where some people may be on the floor sloppy at 0.04, others may be completely “normal” at 0.12. Another issue here is there could be drugs on board that were not tested for.

  14. Sobriety Says:

The definitions surrounding alcohol, alcoholics, alcohol abuse, well, they are extremely open-ended, sometimes can seem very subjective, and at best confusing. No two people really have the same definition or idea about what alcohol abuse really is. Each person experiences alcohol in such a different way. It causes so many different physical, and physiological changes in people, it is hard to set boundaries broad-range and across the board.

I recommend you get yourself a good lawyer! A good lawyer will help you in your case because for any offense of a DUI/DWI you do not have to go to jail! You’ll only go when you get caught and get a bond! You can fight it and your son will be alright! Keep the faith up!

What state do you live in? It also depends on the state you live in! I know for a fact that California and Texas have one of the strictest DUI and DWI punishments but with a good lawyer you can get it expunged. I have a friend that got arrested 2 days ago in California. He is already out of jail, he paid a lawyer to help him out! Also be sure not to get ripped off for there are lawyers that charge too much that will just milk money however they can. If you get yourself a decent lawyer your son should be able to get out asap! That is my recommendation! To get a decent lawyer willing to help you out!

We live in texas. i will be looking for a lawyer soon. its not fair he has already been in jail for 8 months, for something he didnt do. nobody can give us any answers. if anyone out there has been in this situation please contact me. thanks

    Henry Reply:

Yes, get a lawyer! There is no reason for him to be in jail unless he was caught with something else (drugs or if he crashed). Those are the only reasons, or if you live in a dry county that could also be why. It does not matter though, I used to work in the oil rigs and a lot of guys would get pulled over for DWI here in Texas so yes, get a good lawyer! It does not matter if he blew .04 or .22, he should not be locked up! Is it just the DWI he received? Or did he cause an accident or had any drugs with him? Get a good lawyer, tell him/her about your situation, tell them you want to put an interlock device on your car so they have proof that he doesn’t drink! I wish you the best of luck and keep your faith up! He has his Miranda Rights; if the cop didn’t follow procedures and regulations, invest to sue the city or town were you live. It will be a very long process but you deserve to get everything back for those 8 months lost for all your family and especially your son!

no my son was not driving. he was on home confinement and schedule to be release from prison on december of 2009. he went to halfway house for a breathalyzer test as reguired from hin. he went there straight from work. he does not drink at all but his test came back positive. he insisted they do a second test but they denied that. thats when he himself called ambulance to transport him to hospitaal. there all his blood work test came back negative for alllcohol or drugs, he is innocent of all the chages he was accussed of. thats when they send him back to prison. he was only 26 days away from being released. do you think he would do any thing to jeapordize his release. i have been investigating and on that same week people at halfway house send about 10 inmates back for the same reason and none of those had drank alcohol either, so there is somting going on at that place. if someone can give me info. on this please contact me…thanks
